Position: Five (5) Casual Registered Nurses (RN)Location: La Maison de L?Est c/o Résidence Cité Parkway, 380 ave LeBoutillier May Court Hospice, 114 Cameron Ave Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, 110 McCurdy DrCompensation: $38.19 to $42.63 an hour as outlined in Collective AgreementClosing Date: May 12 2026 This posting is intended to fill a vacant positionPosition Summary:As part of our Residence Care Team you will be working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, volunteers and staff providing care to our residents according to their care plan, providing support and assistance to the resident and their families and/or caregivers and contributing to provide a home-like, peaceful environment.Casual staff must have the following availability:Work 4 shifts/month minimumAble to work Days, Evenings, Nights and WeekendsKey Responsibilities:Plans, coordinates, delivers and supports a team to provide day to day end-of-life palliative care for the residents in the Hospice and their families and/or significant others.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCurrent registration with the College of Nurses of OntarioCNA Certification in Hospice Palliative Care or willingness to obtainLEAP Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 monthsA strong sense of dedication to the mission, vision and values of Hospice Care OttawaKnowledge and experience in Hospice Palliative CareExcellent communication skillsLeadership skillsUnderstands Ethics as they relate to Hospice Palliative CareAbility to work as part of a teamAbility to give and take directionPhysically able to assist clients who are bedridden or have mobility care needs Current CPRBilingualism in both official languages is an assetKey Performance Indicators:Provides guidance and direction to Personal Support Worker (PSW) Provides guidance and direction to Residence Volunteers as necessaryEnsures that personal care to patients is carried out appropriatelyAdministers medications to residents as prescribedAdministers treatments to residents as prescribedProvides emotional support to residents and families/significant others as appropriate. Refers family members to the Family Support Program as necessaryMaintains records through appropriate charting, ensuring confidentialityReports routinely to the Team Lead/Manager of CareCarries out the appropriate procedures when a resident diesCarries out duties and responsibilities as designated by the Team Leads in his/her absence.Participates in daily Resident Team meetings (Rounds).Liaises with physicians as necessaryLiaises with Pharmacies as necessaryLiaises with and mentors? medical residents as necessaryMentors new staffParticipates in Student mentorship as requiredParticipates in education opportunities (providing and receiving)Participates in annual Hospice Health and Safety Update(s) and Skills WeekParticipates regularly in-Residence team meetingsParticipates on committees as requiredParticipates in Hospice activities (i.e. Hike, Volunteer appreciation)Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Team Leader(s) and/or the Director of Residence Care. Supervises, under the direction and supervision of the Team Leader(s), the care team, including volunteers, responsible for providing end-of-life palliative care to the residents of the Hospice, as well as support to their families and/or significant others.Position Status: CasualPosition Schedule: Available to work 4 shifts/month minimum and able to work Days, Evenings, Nights and WeekendsCompensation: $38.19 to $42.63 an hour as outlined in Collective Agreement.
